“LET ALL POLICE GET THE VACCINE URGENTLY” SAYS LABOUR POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE, TONY BUNDAY.

Tony Bunday, Labour and Co-operative candidate for the Hampshire and IOW Police and Crime Commissioner, is calling for all frontline police staff to be given a Covid-19 vaccine.

Tony Bunday, who has worked with police and in and around the criminal justice system for most of his working life says: “I fully support the calls of the police federation and other key police leaders to include their officers in the next phase of the vaccine rollout.  This is a moral issue. If we ask workers to place themselves at risk for the wider public good, we have an absolute duty to give them the effective protection that is available so that they, and their wider families are kept safe.

We are asking police staff to confront reckless people, who are not sticking to the Covid rules, and who are therefore much more likely to be a risk to others.  We would not ask officers to engage dangerous criminals without bullet and stab proof vests. It is a similar issue. This government needs to be shamed into reversing its decision”.

Tony Bunday further states: “I call on all Hampshire Conservative MP’s, especially Kit Malthouse the Police Minister, and all Hampshire PCC candidates, to support our frontline staff and condemn the government’s decision and seek to force it to reconsider. This is shameful”!
